If you know me, you know I hate MGS.

My apologies, MGS fanboys and gewerls, but Solid Snake's a dweeb, him and Liquid. And Naked. And Meredith too, she totally sux. And MGS4 was soooooooooo boring. And over-rated. And sucky.

I'm sure the hearts of every Vestibule and neogaf poster are all aflutter (most of which don't own an iPhone, nor can they afford one) with the announcment of Metal Gear iPhone, but sorry, this has to be the lamest port idea I've ever seen.

Don't worry about me though, other than the gut-wrenching terror I feel at the moment, I'm fine.

I'm still trying to recover the 6-digit loss of brain cells I suffered during last week's frozen jaunt to Joshua Tree, CA for Deep Silver's Ride To Hell event.

The game is shaping up nicely, at least the 40 minute eyes-on only presentation the DS brass showed made it look that way.

At first glance, Ride To Hell is a GTA-meets-Easy Rider mish mash with equal parts Full Throttle, Vanishing Point and Road Rash. So... it's basically GTA with biker gangs.

Cool premise, which, of course, in video game journoland means cool press event, right?

Well sort of, if having your bus breakdown in the middle of nowhere, meeting a serial killer and bunking at a hippie rehab center is your idea of cool.

While I'm currently scribbling out all of my exploits of the adventure and an in-depth preview in Hardcore Gamer, here's some snapshot highlights to commerorate the event, which include discharging my weapon with Jo Garcia, Playboy's 2008 Cybergirl of the Year, and watching IGN's Nate Ahearn nearly blow up his room whilst attempting to light a cigarette off a pilot light.

Casey Lynch figures coming in McFarlane Guitar Hero figures, Wave 2

When I was a kid, I was under the impression that you only ever truly made it in showbiz if you had a figure made of you. I would often wonder if Harrison Ford had all his Han Solo figures, the OG Cantina scene outfit, the blue furry I-gotta-rescue-Luke Hoth outfit, the Bespin outfit, the Endor camo trenchcoat.... and what about the medal outfit on the 12" action doll?

Anyways... Kotaku is reporting that Casey Lynch is on the list of upcoming Guitar Hero characters to get the figure treatment, in "Wave 2".

I'm almost there, just a few more steps to stardom and I'll finally be able to hang with Harrison and Mark. Hammil, Mark Hammil. Oh, forget it.

Cold drinks in Croatia

So we're here on the Adriatic Sea with Sony and an assortment of press peeps to check out the latest builds of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Ratchet & Clank Futures: Tools of Destruction.

Let me just tell you, I had no idea what Croatia was like but it is beautiful, the water is crystal clear and hotel is lamming (for a new, not-yet-opened hotel that we're the only guests in, boy are we making breaking them in).

Anyways, I'll have impressions of Uncharted tomorrow, I'm told we're going on a scavenger hunt. For now, here's some shots of the city and us roaming from bar to bar, that is until we found "Cold Drinks", a bar hanging on the side of a cliff. So epic.

Sony Gamers Day in Crotia, or what day and time is it?

So we're all landed, we've recovered our lost luggage and we're settling in for a 4 day visit to Croatia.

As of tonight, I'm jetlagged and spent from being held over at Gatwick in London for 4 hours (Daniel Kayser from Game Trailers endured the gauntlet together).

So it feels good to get unpacked and have an icy cold beverage.

Salt Lake City is known for many things, and being a bastion for gaming is one of them. Yes, Chair just took up residence here, and it's always great to come back and visit Incognito again, it's been awhile.

Our subject? Warhawk, the recently announced multiplayer only aerial-shooter coming to PS3 later this year.

Impressions hosted at Gamesradar here. The trip was really fun; hung mostly with Greg from HG and Sam from 1Up; we played the game from within Hill Aerospace Museum, which was located amongst a ton of snow and planes high on a Salt Lakian mountain. Nestled between rockets and old Tom Cruisey fighter jets was a ha-uge table loaded with LCD displays and PS3's. It was grand. Jeff and the IGN crew put together a video of the trip, which can be viewed here.

Where did the time go? It seems like yesterday that we were pining away for the next Zelda, and hoping frantically it would amount to more than a cell-shaded sequel to Wind Waker.

Yet here we are, years later, getting a double-dose of WIN in the Ninty department.

That is, not only have I finally got my mits on the next Zelda, but I've done so with a brand new, Jetson-esque game console that I've been anticipating almost as long; a shiny, clean, esoteric console that makes me want to dress in an all-white outfit with no zippers and subsist on a liquid-only diet in my hyper-cube space bubble.

Alas, apologies for the lack of returned phone calls lately; the last several weeks have been spent farming rupees, becoming one with my Gale boomerang and traipsing between Snowpeak Ruins and the Temple of Time.

I'm happy to report that, finally, Zelda is beat and the review is live.

I'm not that far into it (created a character, the color choices are pretty weak. Can you say pale and paler?) and I'm still getting used to the non-Riven 3rd-person camera. I'm also getting used to no Atrus. I guess Yeesha is a pretty sweet guide.

At least Iwata-san kept it real. He knows systems aren't moving, neither is first-party software (what there is of it). Still your flashy videos of Pikmin 2, combined with news of Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, developed by Factor 5 and published by LucasArts, and Capcom’s talk of Resident Evil 4 have me all giddy again, especially after this morning’s suprising Sony presser.

E3 03: Sony surprises with PSP, new PS2 bundle

Remember Kaz Hirai’s “the console wars are over” speech last year? Well, he may be right after hearing about the PSP, Sony’s just announced handheld gaming device.

Deets were slim, but here’s what we know:

The PSP uses a new optical discs called UMD (Universal Media Discs) that are 2.4 inches in diameter. It features a 4.5-inch backlit screen a built-in rechargeable battery and USB connectivity. Blam-o.

Other highlights from the conference:

Polyphony’s grass demo from Gran Turismo 4.

Harai confirmed a PlayStation 2 version 2.0, with progressive DVD playback support, reduced fan noise, an IR port for the remote control that will come bundled with the Network Adapter.

The Eye-Toy, a USB-camera-enabled peripheral is demoed. It lets players interact with the images onscreen sans controller. A few games were shown, including Kung Fu and Wishy Washy, the latter of which is about how I felt about the new device. Could be cool, just needs the right software to make it so.

Oh, EA’s John Riccitiello was on-hand to talk about all things EA Sports, and he was particularly thrilled about the new NFL Talk feature, similar to the SOCOM mics. Yes, talking whilst playing is goooooood.

So, Blindsided has finally called it quits, officially.

Thanks to Mike T., Kelly, Joey and Patrick for playing together, and to everyone who came and saw us play, let us crash at your pad or bought us a meal over the past 9 years. Thanks as well to everyone we played and toured with, including Death By Stereo, Osker, Pulley, Union 13, Donuts N' Glory, Lagwagon, The Other, RKL, Mad Caddies, Choking Victim, US Bombs, The Hunns, Melvin and NOFX, Brett and Kerry at Epitaph, Chris at Fat Wreck and Bankshot for supporting us out of the gate.
